Mission, Vision, and Goals

In the spring of 2019, the Springfield School Board of Directions agreed in concept to the following vision, mission, values, and goals. In the next few months, the board and school staff will complete final wordsmithing and add action steps under each goal.
 

The Mission of Springfield School District:

To provide students with effective academic and social-emotional learning in schools with a positive culture that are supported by the community.


Vision

We empower capable cosmopolitans who are ready and motivated to improve their community and engage with the world.

As a district, we value the power of a comprehensive education rooted in:

Pillar 1--Academic Success

Goal 1: Development of a school-based therapeutic pre-kindergarten program

Goal 2: Create a robust system of intervention and remediation for students off-grade level in reading or math


Pillar 2--Social-Emotional Success

Goal 3: Build a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)

Goal 4: Enhance staff skill and confidence in dealing with struggling students


Pillar 3--Positive Culture

Goal 5: Increase the student sense of belonging to their school and classroom communities

Goal 6: Build strong staff morale based on a sense of trust and mutual responsibility


Pillar 4--Community Relationship

Goal 7: Nurture an effective system of communication for highlighting the good things happening in our schools

Goal 8: Strengthen community ties by improving student and family experience of school


Pillar 5--Physical Plant

Goal 9: Build up and maintain a physical plant that ensures the district’s ability to stay current in teaching and learning trends
