Responsive Classroom and Restorative Practices

Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to education that focuses on the strong relationship between academic success and social-emotional learning (SEL). The Responsive Classroom approach empowers educators to create safe, joyful, and engaging learning communities where all students have a sense of belonging and feel significant. All of our K-5 teachers have been trained in Responsive Classroom as a way to build strong classroom communities from the moment our school day begins.

Restorative practices is an emerging social science that studies how to strengthen relationships between individuals as well as social connections within communities. All humans are hardwired to connect. Just as we need food, shelter and clothing, human beings also need strong and meaningful relationships to thrive. All of our 6-12 teachers have received Restorative Practice training as a means to strengthen classroom and whole school communities.
