Student Services Snapshot 2025-26

The Springfield School District is committed to supporting students ages three through twenty-one, or until high school graduation, ensuring access to instruction and services that allow every student to succeed. Students are identified through referrals from caregivers, educators, medical providers, and community agencies, as well as through federally required Child Find activities.

Currently, the district provides support through:

  • Special Education (IDEA) for students whose disabilities impact learning and require specially designed instruction.
  • Section 504 plans for students with disabilities that substantially limit major life activities and require accommodations for access.
  • Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), a districtwide framework providing:

Tier 1: Core instruction for all students.
Tier 2: Targeted supplemental supports.
Tier 3: Intensive, individualized interventions.

During the 2025-26 school year, 338 students received special education services, reflecting a modest increase from the previous year. The most notable growth has been in Other Health Impairment (OHI), often associated with ADHD or medical conditions affecting learning and participation.

Developmental Delay also continues to be a significant area of concern for children ages 3–5. Identification

trends in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Disturbance, and Specific Learning Disabilities remain stable but are closely monitored.
