Student Services
Student Support Services at SSD
Welcome to Student Support Services at the Springfield School District.
The Springfield School District’s Student Services and special education program operates within a tiered organizational continuum of support, ensuring that services are coordinated, consistent, and responsive to student needs. Support flows from district-level leadership to specialized providers and, ultimately, to direct student care.
District-Level Leadership and Oversight
At the district level, compliance oversight, evaluation, consultation, and program design are provided by coordinators, school psychologists. diagnostic evaluators and board certified behavior analysts (BCBAs).
These teams work together to ensure appropriate identification, service delivery, and fidelity of interventions.
Specialized Service Providers
Specialized providers deliver targeted, student-specific services and collaborate with instructional teams to support access to curriculum and functional skill development. These providers include speech-language pathologists (SLPs), occupational therapists (OTs) and physical therapists (PTs).
Direct Student Support (Para-Professional Level)
Para-professionals provide day-to-day, direct support to students, implementing instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional strategies under the guidance and direction of licensed and certified professionals.
At the classroom level, this includes social emotional learning para-professionals, registered behavior technicians (RBTs), behavioral interventionists, instructional assistants, and para-professionals.
This layered structure ensures that students receive appropriate interventions at the right level, while district leadership and specialists support and supervise frontline staff. The model promotes consistency, accountability, and sustainability across all SSD schools.
